Have You Figured Out Your Recipe to Stay Grounded?

awareness clarity consciousness May 13, 2024

Have you ever said, "Next time, I'll do better!" only to fall back into the same old patterns of over-reaction, procrastination, overwhelm, or feeling stuck? I know I certainly have. We've all had those moments where we just know we're capable of so much more but can't seem to get out of those old patterns that keep repeating themselves.

The hard truth is that simply vowing to "do better next time" isn't enough. You can't expect to transform your life through willpower and empty promises. No, you need an actual recipe, a proven strategy to help you stay grounded and intentional, even when chaos strikes.

From my experience, self-awareness is foundational - you can't change what you can't see. By getting completely honest with yourself through practices like mindfulness - aka stop being so damn busy all time! and journaling, you'll gain clarity on the thoughts, beliefs, and patterns keeping you stuck.

Once you understand that your brain is amazingly flexible, which means you can literally reprogram it, you gain the power to create new neural pathways that support confident thinking and decision-making. You're not hardwired for struggle - the magic happens when we've learned the skills to manage our minds.

Going it alone is tough, which is why accountability is crucial. Having a coach, mentor, or supportive community to keep you focused and encourage you through setbacks is invaluable.

Equip yourself with a powerful recipe to maintain your grounding and live with true intention, even when life gets turbulent. However, most people miss one more vital ingredient—you have to change the thoughts driving the behaviour you want to change.

Say you have this big project you've been procrastinating on for months. You keep making promises that next week or next month, you'll finally get it done. But those weeks and months go by, and you've made zero progress. Why? It's those sneaky thought patterns that get you into trouble when you're triggered or stressed. Your brain defaults to those comfortable but unhelpful mental loops like "I'm too busy" or "This is too hard," leading you to feel and act in all the familiar self-sabotaging ways.

So, if you want to break that cycle, you have to get brutally honest with yourself about the thoughts causing your current unwanted actions and patterns. The first step is diagnosing those thoughts. Then, you can start reverse-engineering it: Decide the outcome you want, get clear on how you need to feel to take those desired actions and identify the new thoughts you need to install to create those productive feelings.

From there, it's about practice—setting small, consistent goals to interrupt the old thought patterns and strengthen the new ones you want to hardwire into your brain. It's not easy work, but it's how to create lasting change that you can sustain.

You can cultivate an unstoppable recipe for a grounded, intentional life where you actually follow through on what matters most.

No more broken promises or living in regret. It's time to take control by doing the inner work. Your happier, more empowered self is waiting to be unleashed. Trust me, I've witnessed incredible transformations by equipping people with these strategies. You can do this!
